HOW YOU SWAN #3 : Meet Aurélie Domargard !
We launched HOW YOU SWAN to tell the stories behind the missions — the bold, human stories of women reshaping the space sector with purpose, resilience, and care.
Every edition, we spotlight one of our incredible members to show how they SWAN: how they navigate their careers, advocate for others, and turn barriers into breakthroughs.
Today, we’re proud to feature a woman who’s breaking silos and building bridges — from high-stakes strategy rooms to global client conversations.
Aurélie Domargård
Marketing Director – Customer Intelligence Lead
SSC – Swedish Space Corporation
🌟 Her elevator pitch:
“I bridge the voice of our customers to SSC teams across all levels, helping strengthen a customer-centric mindset throughout the company.
I gather insights through surveys, engagement events, and collaboration with sales — ensuring our strategy and priorities are grounded in real customer needs and fact-based insights.”
With every insight, Aurélie transforms complexity into clarity. She’s redefining how space companies listen, adapt, and lead — starting with people.
💸 What would she do with $1 million to drive inclusion in space?
“I’d invest in changing the narrative — starting with education.
First, I’d fund a program training diverse women in space to become digital role models, reaching girls aged 10–18 through social media with real stories and visible leadership.
Second, I’d work with EU institutions to target 50% women STEM teachers in schools and create women-only STEM university programs to boost confidence and belonging.”
Her vision is bold, intersectional, and transformative: one where inclusion begins before recruitment — and builds from role models, representation, and reform.
💬 Her advice to fellow colleagues?
“Don’t wait to be recognised. Define your own worth. Set clear boundaries. And never hesitate to ask for more.”
These aren’t just words — they’re the blueprint of a woman who’s navigated power structures with clarity and conviction.
🚀 Her story as a woman in a male-dominated field:
From her first steps in the satellite industry in 2004, Aurélie was often the only woman in the room. Whether facing a sea of suits at the Paris Air Show or pushing back against subtle (and not-so-subtle) biases in strategic teams, she had to prove herself — again and again.
She recalls being treated as a hostess instead of a decision-maker, or being sidelined in business rituals — like being offered a dress and photo-op in Vietnam while her male boss got a handshake. At times, her “no” wasn’t enough — it took a male ally to be respected.
But she also speaks of resilience, support from allies, and the power of standing firm. In Sweden, she found a different rhythm — where gender balance felt natural and parental leave was respected equally. She now uses her voice to make that reality the norm, not the exception.
“Now at 45, I look at the next generation with pride and a sense of responsibility. I want to offer what I didn’t always receive: honest guidance, encouragement, and the reminder that professionalism is not about fitting in. It is about standing tall with clarity, integrity, and resilience.”
Aurélie’s story is a powerful testament to perseverance — but also to systems change. She reminds us that strategy isn’t only about markets — it’s also about meaning.
At SWAN, we’re proud to spotlight Aurélie for her courage, clarity, and care.
She leads not by shouting, but by showing what thoughtful, evidence-based leadership looks like in action. She challenges norms with elegance — and builds trust with truth.
She reminds us that professionalism isn’t performance. It’s presence. It’s setting boundaries. It’s changing the narrative — one insight at a time.
